Human rights of refugees and asylum seekers are universal, indivisible and inalienable.
Committee for Refugee Relief is leading advocacy work with several entities of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, such as the Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation, the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and the Special Rapporteur on the adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living, and on the right to non-discrimination in this context.
We coordinate a coalition of 17+ associations based in France, UK and Belgium.
We participated to several round tables on the question of human rights to water and sanitation of forcibly displaced people in need of humanitarian assistance.
We obtained a visit of the Special Rapporteur on the human right to safe drinking water and sanitation to Calais and Grande-Synthe (Northern France) in January 2018, as well as official statements from UN entities denouncing the human rights violations committed in the region.
